Our Story
DownEast Seabilly was started by Capt. Will Wilson. It all started while in Washington DC at a job site. Capt. Will was speaking to a customer, when he was asked if he was a hillbilly. Capt. Will said no he was a Seabilly, the only hills he had ever seen were sand dunes. They both laughed and the job went on. From that point, the conversation was always in the back of his mind. People don’t think about where their seafood really comes from. How much hard work goes into bringing fresh seafood to market.
Who is Capt Will?
Capt. Will is the son of a commercial fisherman/ boat builder. He’s always thought back to his father. Who worked day and night, to provide without any complaints. Because he loved the life on the water. Raised in the coastal Down East community of Marshallberg North Carolina in Carteret County. Each day was an adventure of clamming and fishing, in the surrounding waters of Core sound. The love of the water and the way it feels hearing the waves crash against the bow of the boat. The feeling of the sand and grass under foot as he walked across the shoals, digging for clams. There is something about those feelings, that brings peace and comfort during the day-to-day grid. So, Capt. Will decided to share his love of coastal life with others.
Down East Locals
There is no other place like Down East. With the local dialects, which changes from community to community. The rich history of the Cape Lookout National Seashore. From the stories of shipwrecks, and the brave men that risked their lives to save every crew member. How the Shackelford ponies came from one of those shipwrecks. With every shirt purchased,it’s the hope that we can share those experiences.
Our Product
Here at Downeast Seabilly, we strive to provide the best quality apparel to our customers. All artwork is applied to one of the highest quality T-shirts the market has to offer. Comfort Color shirts are made of ring spun 100% cotton. Making them soft and comfortable off the rack. Don't worry about the size after the first wash. Comfort Color shirts are pre-shrunk and will not fade. The colors of the shirt are handpicked to complement each design. Our designs are applied using the DTF/ heat press process. Which produces high quality prints that are vibrant and very durable. Resisting cracking and fading, giving you a long life of the shirt.
